San Diego State Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate Golf Classic

SAN DIEGO -

The San Diego State women's golf team finished seventh of 12 teams at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate Golf Classic, held at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. The Aztecs shot a team score of 308-322 (630). Washington and Southern California each tied for first with scores of 602.

Joanne Clingan fired SDSU's lowest score for the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a 75-76 (151) and tied for ninth. Senior Jill Janotta finished tied for 19th, shooting a 74 in the first round and an 81 in the second for a final 155. Junior Heather Rollo came in 23rd with a 76-80 (156) and freshman Lauren McHugh carded an 83-87 (170), finishing 50th. Asa Jankler shot an 86-85 (171), placing 53rd.

SDSU has a week to prepare for the inaugural Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championships. The MWC golf tournament will be held in St. George, Utah at the Sunbrook Golf Club beginning on April 22 running thru April 26. Last season the Aztecs finished sixth at the Western Athletic Conference Championships en route to an appearance at the NCAA West Regionals.
