WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - The No. 12 San Diego State men's golf team is tied for 20th place after fighting 40 mph winds in Thursday's first round of the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii-Hilo.
The Aztecs scored a 336 on today's first round and are tied for last with Washington. Texas leads the field with a 302.
SDSU sophomore Lars Johansson led the Aztecs with an 81, nine-over-par, and is tied for 37th. The next best Aztec finish was by freshman Linus Nilsson with an 83 in 61st place. Matt Dobyns of Texas leads after the first round with a 70.
Action will continue Friday with another 18 holes followed by the final round on Saturday.
