SUNRIVER, Ore. - The San Diego State women's golf team fired an opening-round 16-over-par 300 and is in second place after the first round of the Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Meadows Course (Par 71/5,851) at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
SDSU is seven strokes behind the tournament leader New Mexico, which shot a combined 9-over 293. Colorado State is in third with a team total of 302 (+18), followed by BYU in fourth (311) and Wyoming (317).
The Aztecs have three competitors in the top 10, including senior Jo Clingan and junior Asa Jankler, who are tied for fourth at 1-over-par 72. Junior Heather Rollo turned in the next best Aztec finish and stands in ninth with at 6-over 77.
There is a three-way tie for first place with Colorado State's Mayumi Motoyama (35-36) and New Mexico's Elisa Kase (35-36) and Ryley Webb (36-35) all shooting an even-par 71.
The second round of play begins Tuesday at 9 a.m. (PST), with the final 18 holes slated for Wednesday beginning at 8 a.m.
