SAN DIEGO - Despite back-to-back goals in the third quarter by sophomore Holly Hartzell, the Aztecs came up short against UCSD losing 4-5 at the UCSD No Grip Invitational. San Diego State split the day with a 11-9 win over Hartwick College.
Hartzell totaled three goals with Amber Prestegard scoring the other. Hartzell and Prestegard led the Aztec defense with two steals each. Sophomore Ashley Zabel got her first start at goalie and totaled eight saves.

The Aztecs took a quick lead in the game scoring nine goals in the first half. Despite a five-point run by the Hawks, State managed to hold the lead and swim away with the win.
Hartzell led the Aztec scoring crew with four goals followed by Heidi Matsumoto with two. Whitney Winlow, Dominique Delgado, Ashleigh May, Jackie Lopez and Donna Stivers each scored one goal.
Senior Heather Stiles was busy in the cage totaling 10 saves.
