STOCKTON, Calif. - Holly Hartzell scored five goals and Casey Finnegan added two more as the Aztec women's water polo team drowned the University of Pacific, 11-7, Sunday afternoon.
The Aztecs got off to a quick start with three early goals in the first quarter, but then found themselves tied at the half. However, five goals in the third quarter gave the Aztecs back their lead for good.
Whitney Winlow, Beth Merlo, Dominique Delgado and Lisa Weise each scored one goal for the Aztecs.
Goalkeeper Heather Stiles recorded five saves, keeping the Tigers scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Eighth-ranked San Diego State improves its record to 10-7, 3-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Aztecs looks to host second-ranked UCLA on Friday at Bud Kerns Pool. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
