Amber Prestegard led San Diego State with four goals as the Aztecs women's water polo team drowned the Cal State Northridge Matadors 9-2 Thursday afternoon at Bud Kerns Pool in Balboa Park.
Freshman goalkeeper Cindy Ayala saw her first action as an Aztec, splitting time in the cage with Ashley Zabel and Heather Stiles. Ayala recorded four saves and allowed no goals, while Stiles and Zabel combined to record three saves.
Jackie Lopez scored two goals for the Aztecs, while Dominique Delgado, Whitney Winlow and Monica DeRosier each added one.
Jessica Moody recorded seven saves for the Matadors.
The Aztecs look to host the third-ranked Trojans of USC on Saturday at noon at Bud Kerns Pool. The win moves the Aztecs to 13-8, 4-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
