SAN DIEGO - The Aztec Class of 2003 is made up of seven seniors, including members of fifth-year head coach Carin Crawford's first recruiting class at San Diego State.
#5 Casey Finnegan * U * Fresno/Clovis West
- Casey Finnegan completes her SDSU career as one of the program's most accomplished all-round players. A threat on both the offensive and defensive ends, Finnegan ranks on the Aztecs' all-time top-10 lists for goals (sixth, 126), assists (second, 67) and steals (second, 210). Along with fellow senior Amber Prestegard, she has played in the most games of any current Aztec with 129 career appearances going into today's contest. A 2002 all-MPSF academic team member, Finnegan has co-captained the Aztecs this season. Casey is a liberal studies major who will be graduating this spring.
#19 Jackie Lopez * DR * Commerce/Bell Gardens
- Jackie Lopez has provided 41 goals and 32 steals to the Aztec program over her four years. A dependable contributor, Lopez has played in 93 games at SDSU, including the 2001 season when she recorded career-bests with 17 goals and 19 steals. A pre-med biology major, Lopez plans to attend medical school and will graduate next year.
#4 Heidi Matsumoto * DR * Grover Beach/Arroyo Grande
- Heidi Matsumoto has done all of the little things for the Aztecs in her four-year career, and done them very well. A former Aztec swim team member, Matsumoto can almost always be depended on to win the opening sprint of each quarter. The consummate teammate and co-captain of the 2003 Aztecs, she currently ranks seventh all-time on SDSU's career assists list with 42. Matsumoto, a two-time all-MPSF academic selection and a former AWPCA all-academic team member, has 41 goals and 42 assists in 123 career games as an Aztec. Heidi is an international business major who plans to graduate next year.
#8 Ashleigh May * DR * Univ. Place, Wash./Golden West CC
- Ashleigh May joined the Aztec program in 2001 after playing her first two collegiate seasons at Golden West College in Huntington Beach. She has served as a valuable reserve for SDSU, playing in 52 total games and recording five goals and eight assists over the past two seasons. An SDSU academic award recipient last year, May's Aztec career highlights include scoring the game-winning goal with just three seconds left in last year's inaugural Harper Cup to give the Aztecs an 8-7 win over the Tritons. Ashleigh is a marketing major with plans to graduate next year.
#10 Amber Prestegard * U * Huntington Beach/Edison
- Amber Prestegard has rewritten much of the Aztec record book in her four years at San Diego State. Already SDSU's career assists leader by her junior season, Prestegard has spent her senior year ascending the career goals and steals lists. With one more goal this year, Prestegard will have scored at least 50 times all four years and now stands second in career goals with 225, just 10 behind the school record. Prestegard was honored earlier this season as MPSF Player of the Week and is a potential all-conference pick this year. Amber is a criminal justice major with plans to graduate next year.
#13 Becky Sensney * U * Modesto/Johansen
- Becky Sensney has played in 93 career games as one of the Aztecs' top reserves over the past four years. She has six goals, five assists and 14 steals in her career and was an all-tournament pick at the 2002 USWP Open Championship. A decorated student-athlete, Sensney has earned multiple academic honors from the MPSF and AWPCA for maintaining a 3.53 GPA. Becky has been recognized as an SDSU scholar-athlete every semester since her freshman year and will graduate this spring with a degree in psychology.
#15 Brenna Wylie * U * Merced/Golden Valley
- Brenna Wylie is a four-year contributor to the Aztec program who has played in 26 career games. A former SDSU academic award recipient, Brenna is a speech pathology major with a specialty in communicative disorders. She is a natural leader in and out of the water and will graduate this spring.
