SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State water polo team placed five of its members on the American Water Polo Coaches Association's All-Academic team, led by sophomore Monica DeRosier and her 3.6 grade-point average. DeRosier was one of three to make the association's superior team, which consisted of players with a GPA ranging from 3.41-3.70. Aztec senior Becky Sensney (3.53) and freshman Katelyn Schlactus (3.42) joined DeRosier on the superior team in their last and first seasons with the team.
The other two Aztecs honored were members of the excellent team, which consisted of players with a GPA ranging from 3.20-3.41. Junior Kristin Moore came in at the top of the list with a 3.40 GPA, followed by the Aztecs' leading scorer, Holly Hartzell, who accumulated a 3.26 GPA during her junior season.
As a team, San Diego State was also recognized by the American Water Polo Coaches Association for a combined 2.77 grade-point average.
