March 13, 2004

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State reserves outscored Pacific 6-0 in the final period and propelled the Aztecs to a 16-5 victory over the Tigers on Saturday afternoon at the Kroc Community Center Pool. Eight of the nine Aztecs not starting registered a score in the game and Susan Stivers led the offense with three goals off the bench. Freshman Sarah Kilgore also entered at halftime in the cage and tallied five assists and nine saves. The Aztecs improve to 15-3 overall and 5-1 in the MPSF, both of which are all-time bests for the program.

The game was scoreless for the first four minutes before SDSU jumped to a quick 2-0 lead with goals on back-to-back possessions. UOP responded with two straight goals of its own, but Monica DeRosier scored the first of her two goals with 0:26 remaining to give the Aztecs a 3-2 lead after one period.

SDSU scored five of the next six goals over the next period and a half to take a commanding 8-3 lead. Pacific scored twice to get the deficit to three, but SDSU shut out the Tigers the rest of the way finishing the game on an 8-0 run.

Freshmen Stacy Werner and Rachelle Denaro both scored two goals, the first of their SDSU careers. Overall, 11 Aztecs contributed to the highest scoring output of the season. Sara Daseler played the first two quarters in the cage and made five saves.

No. 5 SDSU hosts No. 4 Long Beach State on Sunday at noon before playing a non-conference matchup against Princeton at 4 p.m.
