SDSU Defeats UCSB, 11-3, To Earn Chance At Fifth Place

LONG BEACH, Calif. - SDSU earned an 11-3 victory over UC Santa Barbara in second day action at the MPSF Tournament in Long Beach, Calif. The Aztecs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second quarter and eventually scored seven unanswered goals to extend to a 10-2 advantage and cruised to the win.

Chelsey Smith and Savannah Kelley led nine Aztecs in scoring with two goals apiece while Ashley Zabel and Sara Daseler split time in the cage.

SDSU was defeated on Friday by host Long Beach State to send the Aztecs to the consolation bracket. The Aztecs will try to secure its second straight fifth place finish.

SDSU will face California on Sunday at 2:45 for fifth place in the conference.
