LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The San Diego State softball team dropped a 3-1 decision to UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev., at Eller Media Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Aztecs fell to 27-19 overall and 3-7 in Mountain West Conference play, while the Rebels improved to 32-19 and 7-2.

SDSU junior pitcher Christina Ross (Santa Clarita, Calif.) tossed three scoreless innings before UNLV's Kendall Fearn homered to center to lead of the bottom of the fourth inning. Rosa Ordaz followed with a walk and scored two batters later on Brittany Meade's single through the middle to give the Rebels the 2-0 lead.

Freshman Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.), who reached on an infield single, brought the Aztecs within one run at 2-1 when she scored from third on a throwing error by UNLV catcher Bre Bernardi.

Bernardi made amends for her error in the sixth when she doubled to center field to plate Fearn with the Rebels' final run of the game.

Ross (19-10), who shut out UNLV over seven innings on Saturday, allowed three runs on seven hits in the game. She struck out six and walked two.

Marquez singled and doubled to pace the Aztecs offense, while sophomore Dani Sidoti (Tucson, Ariz.) added two singles.

San Diego State will play host to New Mexico in a MWC doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m.
