SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's basketball head coach Steve Fisher will serve as this year's honorary Homecoming Chair for SDSU's week-long homecoming celebration.
As honorary Homecoming Chair, Fisher will make appearances speaking to fans and alumni about the university and athletics program on Oct. 20, as the campus "celebrates State." He will be attending the War Memorial Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the Aztec Green, the Decade Reunion at 11:15 a.m. inside Casa Real at Aztec Center and the homecoming football tailgate party at 3:00 p.m. During halftime of the SDSU-New Mexico game, he will be honored as the Homecoming Chair.
After reviewing potential candidates, the SDSU Alumni Association selected Fisher to be its Honorary Homecoming Chair. In his eight years on campus, the national championship coach has produced five .500 or better seasons, guided the Aztecs to a pair of NCAA Tournament and NIT appearances and led SDSU to three 20-plus win seasons.
Fisher is in his ninth season as head coach for the Aztecs and will be looking to guide them to the postseason for a third consecutive season.
