SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis dual match against UC Riverside originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, at Aztec Tennis Center has been moved to Sunday, Jan. 20, and will now take place in Indian Wells, Calif., SDSU head coach Gene Carswell announced Wednesday. The Aztecs' season-opening clash is slated for a 2 p.m. start at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, site of the ATP Pacific Life Tour event.

The switch was prompted by San Diego State's recent entry into this weekend's National Collegiate Tennis Classic, Jan. 18-20, which will also be contested in Indian Wells. A total of eight Aztecs will compete in the tournament, which features both doubles and singles brackets and no team scoring. The action gets underway with doubles matches on Friday beginning at 9 a.m., followed by singles play at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

San Diego State received a No. 50 national ranking in the first collegiate poll of the season, released Jan. 8 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Following their match with the Highlanders on Sunday, the Aztecs return to action Tuesday, Jan. 29, with a road date at No. 6 USC in Los Angeles.
