San Diego State wrapped up its six-game road stretch with a 1-1 draw at UC Riverside Sunday night. The Aztecs, who received a goal from Rachael McGlinchy in the 88th minute, watch their record move to 3-3-2 after their second consecutive overtime contest.

SDSU controlled the game for the first 17 minutes as it outshot the Highlanders (3-2-2), 3-1, with all three on goal, but came away empty after it was all said and done. The momentum turned on the Aztecs at 17:08 when UCR's Ebie Harris' header hit the post and was followed by a Denise Thomas shot, which was saved by Aztec goalkeeper Aubree Southwick.

After UC Riverside's two-shot combo, both schools managed just one shot apiece over the next 12-plus minutes before the Highlanders' Ciara Hilpert scored off a corner kick from Kayla Troesh at 29:32. Despite allowing Hilpert's first of the year, San Diego State continued to control the tempo and outshot the home team, 2-0, in the final 15 minutes of the half.

Once the team's returned to the field following the mid-game break, SDSU continued to put pressure on the UCR defense while picking up its own defensive intensity. The Aztecs owned a 9-1 advantage in shots and a 7-1 cushion in corner kicks in the second half alone.

San Diego State's Megan Jurado and Jessica Gordon both put shots on goal in the opening 14 minutes, but were stopped each time by Highlander goalkeeper Jessica White. UCR's lone shot attempt came on a header, which was wide, at 63:34.

Both teams failed to produce much offense over the course of the next 15 minutes, but Aztec junior Cat Walker started things off for SDSU with her shot that sailed high at 79:57. Six seconds later, San Diego State head coach Mike Friesen made three substitution changes that put McGlinchy onto the field.

Not a minute after her miss, Walker was at it again, but this time her shot was wide right. Niki Fernandes followed with a shot of her own, but was greeted by White.

Sixteen seconds after Fernandes' attempt, Walker took a corner kick that did not produce anything, but Tiffany Hurst put the heat on White with shotd at 81:43 and 82:00. Both tries, however, did not find the back of the net.

With San Diego State dominating the ball, the Aztecs earned four corner kicks in the ensuing six minutes. The fourth proved to be the charm as McGlinchy claimed possession amid a horde of players in front of the goal and notched her first of her career to tie the game at 1-1. With nearly two minutes to go in regulation, both teams played out the rest of the clock as the game went into overtime.

In the first extra session, neither squad produced much of anything and the same could be said for the second 10-minute period until Jurado took a pair of shots that sailed wide left (106:20) and wide right (107:35). Then in the final 44 seconds, Walker had her shot saved (109:16) and then had her attempt blocked (109:43), before the final horn sounded.

For the game, San Diego State owned an advantage in shots (20-9) and corner kicks (8-5).

Southwick finished the game with three saves after a strong defensive showing by the Aztecs as a whole. With McGlinchy's goal, SDSU has now had seven different players score through eight games this season.

San Diego State returns to action on Friday, Sept. 18, when it plays host to Sacramento State at SDSU Sports Deck. Game time is slated for 4 p.m. PT.
