AZTEC STORY LINES
- San Diego State continues its season-long seven-match homestand with a single game this week as it plays host to UC Irvine, the sixth-ranked team in the West Region, on Sunday. This is the first time the Aztecs have not played twice in a given week this year.
- The Scarlet and Black have won a season-high two straight matches after defeating Sacramento State, 2-0, and Long Beach State, 2-1, last week. SDSU is also unbeaten in its last three outings, which is a season-best streak.
- SDSU is tied for 10th in the NSCAA Pacific Region poll. It is the first time the Aztecs have appeared in a regional poll since the 2005 season.
- San Diego State has been nearly unbeatable at home against non-conference foes recently. The Aztecs are 7-1-1 in their last nine at SDSU Sports Deck vs. non-Mountain West Conference opponents, a streak that dates to the 2007 campaign. The one blemish came in the second game of the year when SDSU fell to CS Northridge.
- The Aztecs seem to have found an offensive rhythm lately as they have scored four combined goals in their last two games. It is only the second and third time SDSU has scored more than one goal in a match this season.

MARSH RECEIVES RECOGNITION
Hayley Marsh earned a pair of accolades this week after San Diego State defeated Sacramento State and Long Beach State. The sophomore from Littleton, Colo., was named Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week and was placed on Soccer America's Women's Team of the Week. In the two games, Marsh anchored a defense that allowed the Hornets one shot on goal and the 49ers three. Against Sacramento State, Marsh scored the game-winning goal off a free kick and SDSU's first goal vs. LBSU was a direct result of her free kick.
WALKER LEADING THE WAY
With her game-winning goal vs. Long Beach State, Cat Walker took over the team lead in game winners with three on the year. In addition, Walker leads the team in points (9), goals (4), shots (33) and shots on goal (12), while playing in all 10 games this year.
STRONG RUN AT HOME
Up until Cal State Northridge escaped with a 3-1 win in the second game of the year, the Aztecs had put together an impressive run against non-conference opponents at home. Prior to the uncharacteristic home loss, SDSU was unbeaten in its last six matches dating back to 2007, Mike Friesen's first year at the helm. Even with the loss, SDSU is still 7-1-1 in its last nine home dates vs. non-MWC schools. In Friesen's two-plus years as head coach, San Diego State is 8-4-1 against non-conference foes with two of the losses coming against perennial powers UCLA and Cal.
