SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's water polo junior Amber Pezzolla was voted to the 2012 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-tournament team, the league announced late Monday. The utility was one of eight players selected.
The San Dimas, Calif., native filled up the stat sheet in three games at the conference tournament as she finished with eight goals, four assists, 11 steals and nine ejections drawn.
In the quarterfinal game vs. UCLA, Pezzolla tallied one goal, one assist, a team-high five steals and one ejection drawn. A day later vs. San Jose State, the junior scored three times, assisted on two goals, added four steals and drew five ejections, three of which led to SDSU goals. Then in the finale vs. Arizona State, Pezzolla found the back of the net a team-best four times, while logging one assist, two steals and three ejections drawn.
The all-tournament honor is the first of Pezzolla's career and marks the first for San Diego State since 2008.
On Tuesday, Pezzolla was named to the all-MPSF second team for the third consecutive season.
