SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera announced the signing of Kennedy Davis (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty HS) to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday. Davis will join the Aztecs in the fall of 2013.
"We are excited to add Kennedy Davis to our team for the 2013-14 season," Mattera said. "Kennedy hails from a very athletic family and was a top recruit not only in California but in the nation. We expect her to have an immediate impact on the tennis court as Kennedy is an accomplished player in both singles and doubles. She has experienced significant success both in her section and nationally as a junior and I know that she will be a fantastic San Diego State Aztec."
The San Jose, Calif., native is currently a senior at Archbishop Mitty High School. Davis competed at the USTA Regional Tournament on Oct. 27-29, where she posted an impressive 4-1 record with her only loss coming in the championship match. Davis is a five-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network and was named All-WCAL (West Catholic Athletic League) and San Jose Mercury News first team.
The Aztecs, who ended the 2012-13 fall season on Sunday, resume action on Jan. 19, when the team hosts both UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton for their spring home opener at Aztec Tennis Center.
