CORONA DEL MAR, Calif. - No. 18 San Diego State suffered a 7-1 loss to third-ranked UCLA in the opening game of the UCI Invitational at Corona del Mar High School. The defeat drops the Aztecs to 5-4 on the year, while the Bruins improve to 13-1.

In the third quarter, San Diego State finally dented the scoreboard when freshman Ioli Benekou scored her 11th of the season. UCLA, however, put up a pair of goals to take a 6-1 lead into the final eight minutes before posting the 7-1 victory.
Six different Bruins scored and were led by Alexa Tielmann's two goals. UCLA's Sami Hill recorded a game-high eight saves, while Aztec sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Mitchell stopped five shots.
