SAN DIEGO - No. 19 San Diego State defeated Bucknell, 10-3, on Sunday at the Aztec Invitational. SDSU jumped out to a 3-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back in improving to 13-8 on the season.
The Aztecs blanked the Bison in the first period and scored three goals of their own to take the aforementioned 3-0 advantage into the second quarter. Both teams scored just once in the second eight minutes and San Diego State carried a 4-1 lead at halftime.
SDSU continued its offensive assault in the third quarter with four goals, with Bucknell answering with two of its own. Then in the final frame, the Aztecs outscored the Bison, 2-0, to post the seven-goal victory.
Anique Hermann scored a game-high three goals with Alyssa Diacono posting two. Scoring once for SDSU was Hana-Elise Lambur, Caroline Israels, Nikole Ferrari, Nika Sedghi and Carina Carballo. Goalkeeper Rachel Mitchell, meanwhile, made three saves.
