ORANGE, Calif. - No. 20 San Diego State water polo won its second of three games at the Chapman Mini Invitational on Saturday, dismissing Connecticut College, 24-5. The victory moves SDSU's record to 15-9 on the year.
The Aztecs jumped all over Camels from the beginning, scoring the first eight goals and 11 of the first 12. At halftime San Diego State enjoyed a comfortable, 11-1 lead.
SDSU never let up on Connecticut College, extending its lead to 19-1 after three quarters. In the final eight minutes, the Camels dented the scoreboard four times, but allowed five Aztec goals to provide the final 19-goal margin.
Alyssa Diacono led San Diego State with five goals and Anique Hermann and Hana-Elise Lambur each scored three times. Claire McKinnon, Ioli Benekou and Katy Schneider were the other two Aztecs who posted multiple goals with two apiece. Finding the back of the net once during the game was Makena Magro, Nikole Ferrari, Taylor Gums, Frankie Libutti, Nika Sedghi, Risa Burke and Lesley Kerley.
The Aztecs wrap up tournament action at 7 p.m., against the host, Chapman University.
