Aztecs Look to Extend Two-Game Winning Streak in Reno
• SDSU (4-3, 3-1 MW) looks to maintain its lead in the West Division of the Mountain West when it travels to Reno, Nev., to take on Nevada (5-3, 2-2 MW) at 7:30 p.m. PT Saturday.
• San Diego State and Nevada are meeting for the seventh time overall with the Aztecs owning a 4-2 edge in a series that dates back to 1945.
• SDSU is 1-1 all-time in Reno, but won, 39-38, in overtime on its last visit to Mackay Stadium on Oct. 20, 2012.
• Rocky Long is 3-0 lifetime as a head coach against the Wolf Pack.
• Each of the last two games have been decided in overtime.
• This is one of only six active series in the country in which the last two games have been decided in overtime (Utah-Oregon State is the only other series west of the Rocky Mountains).
• SDSU is coming off consecutive victories - New Mexico (24-14 on 10/10) and Hawai'i (20-10 on 10/18) - for the first time in 2014.
• The Aztecs are 12-5 since Sept. 28, 2013, the 27th-best record in FBS.
• SDSU is 16-3 in Mountain West play since Oct. 6, 2012. That is the eighth-best conference record in the country during that span.
Aztecs' Stingy Defense Continues To Climb Rankings
• SDSU has won 26 consecutive games when holding its opponent to 20 points or less - something it has done each of the last two games.
• Nevada is 2-27 (eight straight losses) when scoring 20 points or less. The Wolf Pack average 29.9 points per game.
• Since 1996, Nevada is 0-2 against the Aztecs when scoring 38 points or more and 63-10 against the rest of the country.
• In its last two games, SDSU has allowed a total of 24 points and 527 yards of offense.
• Since Oct. 9 (last three weekends), SDSU is fifth nationally in points allowed per game (12.0) and seventh in total offense allowed (263.5).
• For the season, the Aztecs are 12th nationally and first in the MW in scoring defense (18.7) and 24th nationally and second in the MW in total defense (339.3).
• SDSU has intercepted a pass in eight consecutive games. It is the longest streak for the school since 2010.
#PumphItUp Closing in on 1,000-Yard Season
• Sophomore running back Donnel Pumphrey is eighth nationally in rushing yards per game (141.3) and seventh in rushing TDs (12).
• He is coming off his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game, the fifth of the 2014 campaign and the eighth of his career.
• In his last two games, the Doak Walker Award candidate has 45 carries, 428 yards, 9.51 yards per carry and three touchdowns.
• He needs 11 yards to become the 15th player in school history and just the sixth Aztec sophomore to post a 1,000-yard rushing campaign.
Running Game is Key to Success
• In its last two games, San Diego State has rushed 93 times for 680, 7.3 yards per carry and four touchdowns.
• For the season, the Aztecs rank 22nd nationally in rushing at 227.7 yards per game.
• San Diego State has won 12 consecutive games and is 20-2 in the Rocky Long era when rushing for at least 200 yards.
• Nevada is 1-9 (six straight losses) since Dec. 1, 2012 when allowing 200 yards rushing.
• Against Hawai'i, SDSU owned a 193-yard advantage in rushing yardage (283-90). SDSU is 26-1 in the Division I era when owning a 193-yard advantage.
