SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's soccer head coach Mike Friesen announced on Wednesday the addition of Hedda Regefalk to the program's roster. The forward will be eligible to play in 2015 and will be a junior for the three-time defending Mountain West champions.
"We are very excited to add Hedda to our team," Friesen said. "She has scored a lot of goals over the past two seasons, and we believe that she will continue to do that here at SDSU."
A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Regefalk spent her first two seasons at Bakersfield where she was a two-time all-Western Athletic Conference selection and the league's freshman of the year in 2013. In her two seasons, she posted 15 goals (two game-winners) and two assists for 32 points.
As a freshman, Regefalk scored four goals, which was tied for the team lead. The forward also added two assists and totaled 10 points, both of which were tied for the second-highest figures among all Roadrunners. In conference action, Regefalk led Bakersfield with three goals and seven points en route to second-team all-WAC honors.
Last season, Regefalk enjoyed a record-breaking campaign while earning all-WAC first-team accolades. The sophomore became the Roadrunners' Division I record holder for most goals in a season (11) thanks to a pair of hat tricks and was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week on two different occasions. Regefalk's team-leading 11 goals were half of Bakersfield's season total of 22 and the forward led all Roadrunners with 22 points.
The 5-9 Regefalk joins an SDSU squad that is coming off its third straight NCAA tournament appearance and has won the last three MW regular-season and tournament championships.
