ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ââ'¬" San Diego State's Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) fired a 4-under par 69 on Tuesday to lead the Aztec women's golf team during the final round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the University of New Mexico Championship Course. With her card, the SDSU senior tied for third individually with a 54-hole total of 6-under 213 on the par-73, 6,315-yard track.

In a highly competitive 18-team field featuring 11 squads ranked in the top 50, the No. 26 Aztecs climbed two spots from the previous day into ninth place after posting their lowest score of the week with a 293, completing their season-opening tournament at 17-over 893.

A three-time all-Mountain West honoree, Henrikson recorded five birdies against one bogey over the final 18 holes to vault seven places into a four-way tie for third, along with Hanna Kim of Northwestern, Miami's Daniela Darquea and Caroline Inglis of Oregon, finishing just two shots behind medalist Sarah Cho (-8), an unattached golfer from Northwestern and one stroke in back of runner-up Mariah Stackhouse of Stanford (-7). With her effort, Henrikson now has 10 top-five performances as a collegian, including five in the top three.

Meanwhile, SDSU's Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) was unable to gain ground, remaining in the 23rd position at even-par 219 after notching a 73. The Aztec junior tied for the tournament lead with 42 pars for the week, including 14 during the final round. She also drained consecutive birdies at the turn on the No. 18 and No. 1 greens, but two bogeys stymied her advance.

Elsewhere, Haleigh Krause (Eugene, Ore.) managed to jump three places into the 54th spot at 10-over 229 without the benefit of a birdie on Tuesday. The SDSU sophomore collected 15 pars en route to her second straight 76. However, three bogeys sandbagged an otherwise steady round.

Fellow classmate Mila Chaves (Asuncion, Paraguay) also found birdies elusive, slipping three places into 69th at 15-over 234 on the heels of a final-round 79. After opening with four straight pars, the 2015 MW runner-up experienced difficulty, carding four bogeys over a six-hole stretch before regrouping with six additional pars on the final seven greens.

The Aztec starting lineup also featured freshman Kitty Tam (Hong Kong), who registered her lowest score of the week with a 77 to finish in 93rd at 243. After struggling with an 86 in the second round, Tam minimized the damage on Tuesday with 12 pars to go with her first collegiate birdie on her final hole, the par-5, 474-yard ninth.

Rounding out the SDSU delegation was another freshman Hana Furuichi (San Diego, Calif.), an individual competitor who tied for 87th at 241 after posting an 81 over the final 18 holes.

With four of its starters placing among the individual top 12, Stanford (-20) cruised to the team title, easily outdistancing runner-up Northwestern (-10) and third-place UNLV (-6), while Iowa State (+3) and Oklahoma State (+3) tied for the fourth spot.

San Diego State returns to the fairways next week when it competes in the Golfweek Collegiate Challenge, Sept. 21-23, at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.
