SAN DIEGO -

FUTURE SCHEDULES

The San Diego State football team and South Alabama have agreed to a home-and-home series beginning this season, the two schools announced Wednesday.

The Aztecs will first play host to the Jaguars on Sept. 19. SDSU will then take on USA on Oct. 1, 2016 in Mobile, Ala.

The two teams have never met.

South Alabama is coming off a 6-7 season, which culminated in a 33-28 loss to Bowling Green in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, Ala., on Dec. 20. The Jaguars finished 5-3 in the Sun Belt Conference, which was good enough for a three-way tie for fourth place.

San Diego State's 2015 slate now includes six games against teams that made a bowl game last year, including non-conference games vs. USA on Sept. 19 and at Penn State on Sept. 26. The Aztecs also play Pac-12 member California in Berkeley on Sept. 12 and will add at least one more non-conference game at a later date.

SDSU is also scheduled to play home Mountain West games vs. Fresno State, Nevada, Utah State and Wyoming, and road league contests at Colorado State, Hawai`i, San José State and UNLV. FS, Nevada, USU and CSU also made bowl games last year. Dates and times for the MW games will be announced at a later date.

San Diego State, which is one of 27 schools to play in a bowl game each of the last five seasons and one of just three from the "Group of 5" conferences, finished 2014 with a 7-6 record and 5-3 in MW play.
