SAN DIEGO - San Diego State sophomore Alyssa Diacono has been named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. The award is the first of her career.
A 2014 All-American, Diacono helped the Aztecs win their only game last week, an 11-9 road victory against conference foe California Baptist. The center scored three goals on three shot attempts and added one steal. Diacono also drew a team-high three ejections with No. 12 SDSU scoring on two of the 6-on-5 opportunities.
For the season, the Ladera Ranch native has 12 goals, eight steals and 20 ejections drawn. Diacono's .414 shooting percentage, meanwhile, is tops on the squad.
The GCC-leading Aztecs (7-8; 2-0 GCC) return to action on Friday when they play host to No. 15 Pacific for a 3 p.m. PT conference tilt.
