San Diego State cross country raced to a ninth-place finish at Sacramento's Capital Cross Challenge on Saturday, led by senior Lily Seynaeve.

"Lily had a nice race today, getting a PR on this course," head distance coach Robert Lusitana said. "The other four ran as a pack and did a good job working together. Three meets in a row is difficult but we are pointing towards regionals in November."

At Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, Seynaeve placed 17th after crossing the finish line in 21:32.0, just two seconds off her 6K collegiate best of 21:30.00, which she set earlier this year at the UC Riverside Invitational. This is the second consecutive meet in which Seynaeve has finished among the race's top 20 Division I participants after placing eighth at the UNLV Invitational (5K) last week.

Classmate Cindy Flores was the Aztecs' next finisher, clocking in at 23:27.3 for 75th.

Freshman Renee Phillips recorded a 23:30.3 time, taking 80th among Division I athletes.

Junior Chrissy Calain finished the race in 23:40.7, the 82nd-best time.

Freshman McKenzie Mora finished just behind her, rounding out SDSU's finishers at 23:42.1 for 83rd.

The Aztecs are off for a week before heading to the Highlander Invitational (5K) in Riverside, Calif., on Sat., Oct. 14.
