INDIANAPOLIS – Former Aztec Track & Field standout Ashley Henderson is a finalist for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, the NCAA announced Thursday morning. Henderson was one of two student-athletes nominated by the Mountain West (Nevada WBB's Teige Zeller).
Henderson finished her career as a 12-time All-American (nine-time First-Team) and won a school-record 14 Mountain West championships. She also has four school records and was the Mountain West's Most Outstanding Performer at the last five conference championships, a conference record. Henderson has now joined professional ranks with hopes of competing at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.
The top 30 finalists will be announced in early September and the top 10 honorees from Divisions I, II and III, including the nine overall finalists, will be honored, and the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year winner announced, at a dinner Oct. 28 in Indianapolis.
