SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's tennis team will put the finishing touches on its fall tournament schedule this weekend when it competes in the Bulldog Classic, Nov. 2-4, in Fresno, Calif.
In addition to host Fresno State, the Mountain West will also be represented by Nevada at the three-day event, while Pepperdine, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, UC Davis, Sonoma State and Azusa Pacific round out the list of participating schools.
Four Aztecs will take to the courts at Wathen G. Spalding Tennis Center, including Jan Kirchhoff (Berlin, Germany), who captured the consolation singles title at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships two weeks ago in Malibu, Calif. With his crown, the SDSU sophomore extended his winning streak to five straight, improving to a team-best 8-4 on the year thus far.
Also slated to appear for the Scarlet and Black are juniors Rafael Gonzalez Almazan (Madrid, Spain), Nicholas Mitchell (Ojai, Calif.) and Arnaud Restifo (Nice, France). Mitchell was a bracket winner as well earlier this fall, claiming the "U.S. Open" flight at the Wildcat Invitational in late September in Tucson, Ariz.
Following the Bulldog Classic, San Diego State will have the next two-and-a-half months off before opening its 2019 dual-match schedule against UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 20, at Aztec Tennis Center.
