COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State swimming and diving's Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez was named Mountain West Diver of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
The award was granted based on performances from Dec. 12 - Jan. 6. In her only action over that span, Lechuga Gonzalez recorded a pair of first-place finishes in a double dual meet against Cal Poly and Air Force, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter competition. Her scores of 306.15 in the 1-meter and 317.33 in the 3-meter both stand as the fifth-best in program history and are the fourth-best in the Mountain West this season.
Lechuga Gonzalez became the second Aztec freshman in school history to win multiple Mountain West Diver of Week award. The Tijuana, Mexico product became the first to accomplish the feat since Alexandra Caplan did so during the 2014-15 campaign.
The SDSU swimming and diving team, which owns a perfect 10-0 dual-meet record and has seven top times out of a possible 14 swimming events in the MW this season, closes its 2018-19 home schedule this Friday when the team hosts conference foe Fresno State for a 10:00 a.m. meet at the Aztec Aquaplex.
