Need to Know
• The Aztecs will be back at Viejas for the next two games. First, they will host the San José State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for Girls and Women in Sports Day. Then on Wednesday, SDSU takes on New Mexico at 11:00 a.m. Field Trip Day.
• Both games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network with Chris Ello (12th season) on the call.
• SDSU lost at Air Force 75-66 Wednesday evening. Mallory Adams led the Aztecs with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
• It was Mallory Adams' sixth double-double of the year and her ninth game with 10 or more rebounds.
• Sophomore Najé Murray recorded her 31st career game with 10 or more points last Saturday. She has scored in double-figures in 15 of the Aztecs' 18 games this season.
• Mallory Adams is averaging 8.5 rebounds per game, the most for an Aztec freshman since Ashlee Dunlap in the 2002-03 season. She is bringing in 9.9 boards per game in conference play, the second most in the league.
• Sophia Ramos leads all Mountain West freshmen in points, assists, free throw percentage, assist-to-turnover ratio and minutes played. In conference play, she is shooting 89.5 percent from the free throw line, third most accurate in the Mountain West.
• Ramos is the only true freshman in the nation to average 14 points, 4.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
• Zayn Dornstauder is averaging 8.3 points per game in conference play while shooting 55 percent from the floor and 82 percent from the free throw line.
• The Aztecs already have more blocks (76) than they did all last season (64). They are 57th in the nation with 4.4 blocks per game.
• SDSU is making 75.7 percent of their free throws in conference play, the second best rate in the Mountain West.
Noting the Air Force Game (L, 66-75, 1-30-19)
• The Aztecs hit their first three three-pointers and then made just two of the next 14 attempts.
• The Aztecs were 9-for-13 From the free throw line. Last time they played Air Force they were 26-for-37, setting season-highs for free throws made and attempted.
• SDSU forced 25 Air Force turnovers, a season-high
• The Aztecs committed a season-high 22 fouls, which led to 25 Air Force free throws, also a new season-high.
• Mallory Adams finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. This was her sixth double-double of the year and her ninth game with 10 or more rebounds.
• Adams is now averaging 9.9 rebounds per game in MW play, just one rebound shy of averaging a double-double.
• Sophia Ramos and Najé Murray have both scored 10 or more points in 15 of SDSU's 18 games
• Najé Murray led the Aztecs with three steals. Murray has led the Aztecs in steals in 15 of their 18 games (including ties).
• Kennedi Villa (2) and Zayn Dornstauder (3) both set new career-highs for steals in a game.
• Freshman Sophia Ramos led the team with seven assists and Mallory Adams had a team-high 12 rebounds. They each have led the team in their respective categories in 13 of the team's 18 games.
Scouting the Spartans
• The Spartans are 2-17 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
• They are coming off a 68-59 home win over Utah State, their first MW win of the season.
• They are 0-10 on the road.
• They are last in the conference in rebound margin (-15.4) and scoring defense (76.2).
• They lead the conference in three-pointers attempted, are third in threes made and seventh in three-point percentage (.305)
• SJSU has three players averaging between 9.1 and 9.5 points (Raziva Potter).
• Head Coach Jamie Craighead (sixth season) came to SJSU after four years at Sacramento State where she was their winningest coach in 20 years.
