SAN DIEGO – Following just over a week off from competition, the Aztecs are set for back-to-back days of duals this weekend, first at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Feb. 9, at noon, then at home against Cal Poly on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m.

The Scarlet and Black most recently saw members of the CSUF squad at the ITA Southwest Regionals in October 2018 in Point Loma, but only freshman Ellie Ashley played against a Titan in consolation singles play (Emery def. Ashley, 6-2, 6-0).

The Aztecs hosted the Titans in dual play last season, when they claimed a 5-2 win over Fullerton in late March by winning doubles—their 10th doubles point of the season at that date—and then-senior Jana Buth leading the four Aztecs to win singles matches with her win over 125th-ranked Genevieve Zeidan, 4-6, 7-5, 6-0.

Fullerton enters Saturday's dual with a 2-1 record with wins over UCSD (7-0) and most recently, Grand Canyon (6-1). The Titans sole loss was to Arizona State, 6-1, last Friday. The

Cal Poly returns to the Mesa on Sunday after making the trip to San Diego in November for SDSU Fall Classic II. SDSU notched wins over two Mustang duos (Nadozie/Aubets def. Olyphant/Boyden, 6-2; Smith/Mulbarger def. Worshnop/Bouquet, 6-0), while Nnena Nadozie topped Cal Poly's Kimberley Bhunu, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (3), in singles action on the first day.

Last season, SDSU topped Cal Poly, 5-2, in February at the Aztec Tennis Center to snap a three-match losing streak. The match marked the sixth straight doubles point for the Aztecs—a streak that eventually extended to 11 straight—and current Aztecs Magda Aubets, Jenny Moinard and Nnena Nadozie collected wins in the number two, four and five singles matches, respectively.

The Mustangs (0-2) visit the Mesa following a dual at UCSD this Saturday. Cal Poly's two losses this season come from a visit to San Jose, Calif., where they fell to Sonoma State (4-3), and San Jose State (5-2). The Mustangs were also scheduled for two matches in Santa Barbara, Calif., last weekend against Alabama and Gonzaga, but both duals were cancelled due to weather.

San Diego State snapped its three-match win streak last Friday with a narrow 4-3 loss to Long Beach State. The Aztecs (3-1) have claimed the doubles point in all four of their matches so far this season. They have also won at least two of their top three singles matchups in every dual this season.
