SAN DIEGO – San Diego State head coach Brian Dutcher announced today that Trey Pulliam (pull-EE-um) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and join the men's basketball program. Pulliam, a 6-3 guard, attended Navarro College, a junior college in Corsicana, Texas, the last two seasons. He has two years of eligibility remaining and can play immediately.
Pulliam averaged 12.7 points, 5.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals this past season for Navarro, which posted a 25-7 record and advanced to the NJCCA Division I Region XIV championship game. A native of Bryan, Texas, Pulliam was second on the team in scoring, and led the team in assists and steals en route to earning all-East Zone honorable mention accolades and making the all-tournament team.
"Trey is someone who plays with a chip on his shoulder," Dutcher said. "He possesses a team-first attitude and is a terrific passer. He is someone who will endear himself to Aztec fans."
He ended the season with the fourth-most assists in school history, and the fifth-most steals and seventh-most field goals made, while producing 20 double-digit scoring games and leading the team in assists on 19 occasions.
As a freshman, Pulliam averaged 10.4 points, 4.5 assists and 3.6 rebounds for Navarro.
Pulliam is the son of parents who both played college athletics. His mother, Shawn, was a first-team All-American pitcher at Texas A&M and threw a postseason perfect game en route to the Aggies winning the 1987 NCAA title and her father, Al, played basketball at the school.
Pulliam, who attended high school at Consolidated High in College Station, Texas, will join junior KJ Feagin, a transfer from Santa Clara, junior Malachi Flynn, a transfer from Washington State, redshirt sophomore Caleb Giordano and true freshman Keshad Johnson as newcomers on next season's roster.
The Aztecs return six of their top nine scorers off a team that posted a 21-13 record and advanced to the championship game of the Mountain West tournament in 2019. San Diego State is one of just nine schools nationally to win at least 19 games each of the last 14 seasons and is one of 29 schools to play in seven of the last 10 NCAA tournaments.
