Aztecs Spread Across Three States This Weekend
The Aztecs will be competing in three meets in three states this weekend. The majority of the team will be competing at the Desert Heat Classic hosted by the University of Arizona. The Aztec pole vaulters will be at BYU for the Robison Invitational along with Hannah Taylor (high jump) and Vanessa Spizewski (long jump). Additionally, six Aztecs will stay back in Southern California to compete at UC Irvine's Steve Scott Invitational. Paige Comiso will run the 5,000m Friday evening, while Kiana Hunter (100m & 200m), Danielle Scott (800m), Carina Clark (400m hurdles) and Quinn Wiley (400m hurdles) will compete Saturday.

Nyjari McNeil Wins 800m, Breaks her SDSU freshman record
Nyjari McNeil highlighted last weekend for the Aztecs by taking first in the 800 meter run at the Beach Invitational. McNeil bested 91 competitors in the 800. Her time of 2:06.58 beat her previous best of 2:07.20 to reset her SDSU freshman record. She also moved up from No. 5 to No. 4 all-time at SDSU.

Aztecs Pole Vault, Discus & 400m Squads Rank Top 15 in the Nation
The Aztecs are top ten in three events in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings, which take the average of a team's top four competitors. They are No. 3 in the pole vault with an average of 4.16m with Bonnie Draxler having the No. 2 height in the nation. They are also and No. 10 in the 400m with an average time of 54.41 and No. 15 in the discus throw (47.07m average).

Aztecs Continue to Break Class Records
The Aztecs have set seven class records in 2019. Nyjari McNeil has already broke three freshman record (400 indoor and 800 indoor and outdoor), Bonnie Draxler has set school records in both outdoor and indoor pole vault, which are now senior records, Marissa D'Atri set the freshman record for the 3,000m steeplechase, Jalyn Harris set a new indoor record for the 400 and Jordyn Bryant set a new freshman record for outdoor shot put.
