SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Callista Fletcher advanced to the 100-meter dash quarterfinals of the NCAA West Prelims Thursday evening after finishing with the 13th best time (11.49). Nyjari McNeil (800m) and Maya Brosch (400m hurdles) also competed Thursday evening, but did not qualify for Friday's quarterfinals.
Fletcher finished the 100-meter dash in 11.49, the second-best time in her heat. This was a new PR for Fletcher by 0.03 seconds and puts her in a tie for the sixth fastest time in school history.
Freshman Nyjari McNeil finished the 800-meter run in 2:09.26, the 35th best time of the night. She will compete on Saturday when she runs the 4x400m relay for the Aztecs.
Maya Brosch, competing in her first NCAA West prelim, finished the 400m hurdles in 1:01.53, the 38th best time.
UP NEXT
On Friday, Callista Fletcher will compete in the finals for the 100m and will also run in the first round of the 200m dash. Freshman Erica Grotegeer will be competing in the discus throw and the four Aztec vaulters will compete as well.
THE NOTE
Sophomore Callista Fletcher has finished the 100m dash in a wind-legal 11.56 seconds or faster in four straight races.
