SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State cross country team will be racing across town at the UC San Diego Triton Classic 6k Saturday morning.
The race begins at 8 a.m. and will be followed by the men's 8k. The 6K course starts on the North Campus Athletic Fields and finishes on the Triton Track. In between, there will be varied terrain on grass and dirt trails with sidewalk crossings.
Only half the SDSU squad will be running on Saturday. Competitors include Isabelle Davis, Jessica Kain, Alex Lomeli and Naomi Smitham. They will be going against a host of local schools including Point Loma Nazarene, San Marcos, Mesa College and the host school, UC San Diego.
There will be limited parking available in front of the Spanos Building and in the Rady School of Business lot. Plenty of parking will be available in the Hopkins Parking Structure. Follow the Campus Loop Road past the Spanos Building and the track. The Hopkins Parking Structure will be located on the right side of the road 0.5mi past the Spanos Building
Last Time Out
The Aztecs competed in the Capital Cross Challenge 6k at the Arcade Creek Course in Sacramento, Calif. Sept. 28. Carlene Masar once again had the top Aztec time, finishing in 22:53.2.
As a team, SDSU finished in 32nd out of a very competitive group of 40 schools. Carlene Masar's time of 22:53.2 was good for 176th (out of 322). She was followed by fellow sophomore Marissa D'Atri (187th; 22:57.7).
Rounding out the top five for SDSU was Renee Phillips (198th; 23:01.0), Paige Comiso (201st; 23:04.3) and Lauren Harper (220th; 23:20.5). Naomi Smitham also competed for SDSU and finished in 23:59.7.
Isabelle Davis was also in competition that day, competing in the Master's University Invitational 5k. She finished in 20:04.5, good for 127th place out of 305 runners.
