COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State junior Klara Thormalm is the Mountain West Conference's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending October 13.

Thormalm had a spectacular weekend in the water for San Diego State, taking home a total of nine podium finishes for her efforts throughout both the Aztecs dual against Pepperdine Thursday, Oct. 10 and their appearance at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12. The three-meet slate was highlighted by Thormalm setting two pool records at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational, taking home the 100 breaststroke title with a record time of 1:01.58 Friday and securing the 200 breaststroke gold medal with a time of 2:14.85 Saturday. Her performances not only were San Diego State's only first-place performances during the two-day meet but are both the fastest times by a Mountain West swimmer this season.

In the Aztecs dual against Pepperdine Thursday, Thormalm placed first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 26.78 while swimming the third leg of the team's first-place 200 medley relay which finished with a mark of 1:46.82. SDSU went on to top the Waves 66-60.

SDSU opens its 2019-2020 home slate when it hosts Boise State and Pepperdine on Friday, Oct. 18. The tri-meet is set to begin at 2 p.m. in the Aztec Aquatics Center.
