EL CAJON, Calif. – The Aztec women's basketball team (2-1) knocked off Westcliff 77-56 Tuesday evening in a game that was played at nearby Grossmont College due to a power outage at SDSU.
The Aztecs saw Taylor Kalmer and freshman Isabela Hernandez set new career-highs with 19 and 16 points respectively. Zayn Dornstauder (12 points) and Téa Adams (10 points) also scored in double figures.
SDSU held Westcliff to 30 percent shooting from the field and outscored the Warriors 27-10 in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
After a sloppy first half, SDSU scored 20 points in the first five minutes of the third quarter to push their lead to 16. However, the Warriors responded with an 11-0 run to cut the lead to five late in the third quarter.
The Aztecs began the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run to retake a double-digit lead and never looked back.
SDSU outrebounded the Warriors 53-40 and were led by Baylee Vanderdoes' nine rebounds.
The Warriors attempted 33 three-pointers but made just seven (21 percent) while the Aztecs countered with 44 percent shooting from deep (8-18).

Both Taylor Kalmer (19 points) and Isabela Hernandez (16 points) set new career-highs. They combined to go 7-for-10 on three-point field goals.

The Aztecs had assists on 23 of their 30 field goals. Taylor Kalmer and Sophia Ramos each had six assists.
