BOISE, Idaho -- The San Diego State women's soccer team saw its season come to an end in a 2-0 loss to top-seeded and host Boise State Saturday afternoon at Boas Soccer Complex in Boise, Idaho. The Aztecs finished their season with a 10-9-1 record.

SDSU, the No. 2 seed and MW regular-season co-champions with the Broncos (18-4), outshot the tournament hosts, 16-15, but only managed two on frame.

San Diego State's best chance to score in the game came in the 83rd minute when Chloe Frisch's rifle from the left side was deflected by BS goalkeeper Sydney Smith and bounced off the right post before being cleared away.

"(I'm) really proud of what this team accomplished," Aztec head coach Mike Friesen said. "It is very difficult to win a championship, even more so in a season like we had, which was riddled with injuries. We were real gritty today. It was our seventh road game out of the last nine at altitude. I was really proud of how we competed today."

Boise State got on the scoreboard in the 17th minute when Raimee Sherle punched in a rebound off Emily Curry's original shot.

Early in the second half (49:32), the Broncos added an insurance goal as McKenna Kynett headed in a cross from Aubree Chatterton.

Frisch had six shots to lead the SDSU offense, while Malia Kaleiohi had three shots off the bench.

Brooke Lisowski made three saves in net for San Diego State.

Frisch was joined on the all-tournament team by Laura Fuentes and Taylor Moorehead.

NOTE I
The Aztecs played in their seventh MW Championship game in the last eight seasons (only exception was 2018). SDSU is 4-1-2 in the title game over that span.

NOTE II
SDSU dropped to 6-4 on the season when outshooting its opponent.

QUOTE
"This team has given everything they have to each other and that is really satisfying as a coach," San Diego State head coach Mike Friesen.
