COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three members of the San Diego State women's tennis team have been named to the all-Mountain West team, the conference announced Friday. Senior Nnena Nadozie made the all-singles squad for the third consecutive season while Nadozie and junior Alicia Melosch recorded all-doubles recognition for their efforts in the 2021 campaign. Senior Tamara Arnold was named to the all-singles squad for the second consecutive campaign.
A three-time singles honoree, Nadozie closed out her senior season donning the Scarlet and Black with a 6-5 (3-4 MW) record in singles play, highlighted by a 2-0 record in the No. 2 singles position. She spent most of the season as the Aztecs' No. 3 singles seed, recording a 4-2 record with wins over student-athletes from Air Force, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and Utah State.
Returning for her second season as an Aztec, Arnold once again made her mark as SDSU's primary No. 1 singles' athlete, boasting a 5-1 (3-0 MW) record with a four-match win streak to close out the season. The Olten, Switzerland native has not lost a singles match since March 7, 2021, as the only singles match Arnold lost this year was to No. 61 Solmar Colling from the University of San Diego in early-season non-conference play. She finished the season ranked as the tenth-best singles player in the conference according to the R2Sports ranking system.
In doubles play, Nadozie and Melosch closed out the season as the Aztecs' most consistent doubles pairing, totaling a 2-1 (2-1 MW) record in their doubles efforts in the No. 1 doubles spot. The duo's wins both came in a decisive fashion, topping the Wyoming Cowgirls' Noesjka Brink and Maria Oreshkina 6-1 and UNLV's premiere doubles grouping of Izumi Asano and En-Pei Huang 6-3 on their home courts. Nadozie and Melosch were also named to the all-conference doubles squad in 2019.
