SAN FRANCISCO – Four members of the Aztec men's soccer team were named to the 2021 Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll, the conference office announced Wednesday morning.
Arturo Chavez, Tetsuya Kadono, Laukoa Santos and Esteban Zepeda, all four of which are majoring in business administration, were honored for their work in the classroom.
"I'm very proud of the accomplishments of these four student-athletes," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said. "Our main mission is to prepare these young men for life after college and academic accolades are a great barometer to show that our mission is moving forward."
This is the third time Santos has been recognized by the conference. Following the fall semester, he had a 3.38 cumulative GPA and is studying real estate.
Chavez was honored for the second straight year. Focusing on management, he has a 3.39 cumulative GPA.
Kadono started every game in goal for the Aztecs and has a 3.48 GPA and is studying marketing.
Zepeda holds a 3.35 cumulative GPA and is business administration major with an emphasis on management.
To be eligible for the Pac-12 honor roll, a student athlete must meet the following criteria:
· Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher (through the fall semester).
· One year in residence at the institution (virtually counts).
· Currently on the team's roster or was on the roster through the end of the season.
