COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Aztec track and field team had their 4x100m relay team qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships Saturday evening at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships at Texas A&M.
The team of Tai McDonald, Danae Dyer, Aisha Watt and Jada Moore finished in 44.48 seconds, good for fourth in their heat and 11th overall.
The Aztecs have now had a representative at the NCAA Outdoor Championships 23 of the last 24 times.
SDSU's 4x400m relay team ran a season-best time of 3:36.72, which was the 14th best time, but only the top 12 advance.
Danae Dyer, who was the lone Aztec track athlete to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals, barely missed the cut in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 13.42 and in 17th place.
Erica Grotegeer placed 26th in the discus throw with her best throw traveling 168-4 (51.30m).
Jade Cany tied for 30th in the high jump after clearing 5-07.75 (1.72m).
Freshman Simone Johnson cleared 39-08.00 (12.09m) in the triple jump, good for 40th place.

The SDSU 4x100m relay team will be competing at the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 10 at the University of Oregon.
THE NOTE
The Aztecs were one of three 4x100m relay teams from non-power-five schools to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships (Houston & UNLV).
