BERKELEY, Calif. – Select members of the San Diego State women's tennis team continued competition at the Cal Fall Invitational hosted by the University of California, Berkeley Saturday.
In doubles play, the duo of Tamara Arnold and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat topped Cal's Moeller/Alsola 8-7 (6). The pair went on to play Santa Barbara's Honer/Khatamova, falling 8-6. Nnena Nadozie and Regina Pitts took on the Gaucho's Kiss/Gon.-Ballbe in their doubles match but did not come out on the winning end, dropping an 8-4 decision.
In singles play, Arnold advanced to semifinal round of the blue draw with a 7-6(0), 6-2 victory over Santa Barbara's Bruu-Syversen. In other Aztec successes, Nadozie collected a 6-1, 6-4 win over Cal's Brown.
Pitts did not see the same positive results, falling to BYU's Dunyon 6-3, 6-3. Thamchaiwait withdrew from her singles match due to injury.
