SAN DIEGO – San Diego State's 20-match winning streak that included four perfect days of tennis over two event was bound to come to an end. On Saturday, in the second day of Aztec Fall Tennis Classic II, it did.
 
The scary thing? San Diego State may have produced its best single day of the fall season.
 
In the 6-team, 3-day event that SDSU is hosting at the Aztec Tennis Center, the Aztecs went 8-1 in singles action Saturday and 3-1 in doubles play. San Diego State seniors Tamara Arnold and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat wreaked havoc on the topflight singles winning straight-set semifinal matches on Saturday. The brackets were reconfigured to keep the pair of facing one another for the Gold Bracket title Sunday.
 
"Another great day for the Aztecs," SDSU head coach Peter Mattera said. "As a team, our tennis was a level above yesterday. We are looking forward to a great last day of Fall Classic II and closing out the Fall campaign on a very high note."
 
Both Arnold and Thamchaiwat defeated Pac-12 opponents on Saturday and both recorded straight-set victories in advancing to the final. Arnold dropped only nine games in her four victorious sets during the event, while Thamchaiwat lost only 11sets her two tournament wins.
 
Six other Aztecs recorded victories in singles action Saturday. Julia Jordan, Alicia Melosch, Cécile Morin, Nnena Nadozie, Regina Pitts,  Agustina Rimoldi Godoy and Alexandria Von Tersch Pohrer all were victorious on the middle day of the event.
 
As if breaking up the singles bracket was not enough, Thamchaiwat and Arnold combined for a 6-4 victory in the semifinal match, advancing them to the top-flight Black Doubles draw championship match tomorrow. The Aztecs had a pair of doubles victories in the back draw. Nnena Nadozie and Melosch were victorious 6-4, while Jordan and Pitts were 6-0 winners.
 
The event concludes tomorrow at the Aztec Tennis Center with play scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. PT. Admission is free.
