SAN DIEGO – Senior Regina Pitts earned tournament most valuable player honors and San Diego State completed a perfect three-day record of 12-0 in singles play as the Aztecs completed a successful run at the inaugural San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic.
In addition to posting a perfect mark in singles play, San Diego Stat went 4-2 on doubles play in the three-day, five-team event being held on the campus of USD.
"I am really proud of the way our players competed this weekend," San Diego State head coach Peter Mattera said. "They made themselves and their team better in this event. We also had the opportunity to do some great community service events with the Wounded Warriors and really enjoyed that as well."
In addition to Pitts, senior Agustina Rimoldi Godoy, junior Cécile Morin and sophomore Alexandria Von Tersch Pohrer also competed for the Aztecs.
The event features round-robin style matches between the participating teams – Navy, San Diego, San Diego Christian UC San Diego and San Diego State.
San Diego State concludes the Fall season with schedule with the San Diego State Fall Classic II. That event starts on Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
