WESTWOOD, Calif. – The San Diego State diving team sent three Aztecs to the 1-meter final on Friday's day one of the Bruin Diving Invitational at the Spieker Aquatics Center on the UCLA campus. Senior Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez was the team's top finisher in eighth place.
 
The Aztecs were one of five teams to place multiple competitors in the 18-diver final and was the only team among those five not in a Power-5 conference.
 
Lechuga Gonzalez finished with a score of 266 in the final. Valentina Lopez Arevalo, in her first competition for SDSU, was 11th with a 249.90 and Summer Westmoreland was 18th and finished with a score of 202.10.
 
Just missing the final, in 19th place, was senior Gillian Garcia who scored 220.00 in her six prelim dives. Jules Harrison, a sophomore, recorded a collegiate career-high with a 216.05, bettering her previous high score of 215.34, which she compiled at Pepperdine earlier this season.
 
Senior Lexi Letts totaled 189.25, and freshmen Emma Duggan and Olivia Zamudio posted scores of 188.05 and 183.95, respectively.
 
The Bruin Diving Invitational continues on Saturday with the 3-meter competition which gets underway with the prelims at 10:30 a.m. PT. Fans can follow the action through live scoring at DiveMeets.com.
