SAN DIEGO – After a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the San Diego State water polo team hosts the 2022 Aztec Invitational from Friday through Sunday at the Aztecs Aquaplex. Six teams will compete in 11 games over the three days of competition and links for live stats for all Aztec contests are on the team's schedule page at goaztecs.com.

Storylines
- San Diego State continues its initial six game homestand, when it revives the Aztec Invitational after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
 
- The No. 20-ranked Aztecs host the Aztec Invitational over the weekend with a total of 11 games from Friday to Sunday. SDSU opens the Invite on Friday against Saint Francis (PA) at 2 p.m. and then will jump right back into the pool against No. 14 Wagner at 4 p.m. The team will play Bucknell at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and wrap up its play on Sunday against Austin College at 10:30 a.m.
 
- The Aztecs went 2-0 in last weekend's Aztec Mini Invite 1 after playing the first 10 games of the season on the road. They defeated No. 25 CSUN on Sunday, March 6, 14-10 and came right back to down No. 19 Princeton 12-11, in a 41-minute sudden victory affair.
 
- In combination with a 9-6 win over Pomona-Pitzer (2/27) in the final game of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational, the Aztecs are riding a season-long three game win streak.
 
- The Aztecs tied a season-high with 14 goals against No. 25 CSUN in their 14-10 win.  
 
- Senior Karli Canale leads the team in goals (16) and ranks second in points (21), steals (10) and sprints won (4).
 
- Freshman Rose Kanemy has a team-high 25 points and 11 assists, ranks second in shots (43) and goals (14), and had a season-best five goals vs. CSUN.
 
- Sophomore Laurene Padilla paces the team with 47 shots, 11 steals and is tied for the lead in goals (16).
