SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State water polo team, coming off a weekend at the Aquaplex which saw it go 2-1, including a pair of conference wins, heads out on the road this week for games at Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday and a Golden Coast Conference contest at No. 9 Fresno State on Saturday.

Know This
At Cal State Monterey Bay (1-13)
• This will be the fifth meeting between these two programs, dating back to the 2006 season, with the Aztecs holding a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series.
• San Diego State has averaged 17.0 goals per game against Cal State Monterey Bay, while allowing 4.8 per contest in the previous four matchups.
• In the lone game played in Seaside, Calif., San Diego State defeated the Otters 17-6 on April 3, 2019.
• In its lone home game against CSUMB, the Aztecs won 12-2 on March 24, 2018.
• The team's other two matchups were neutral site affairs, in 2008 & 2009, and SDSU won by a combined score of 39-11.
• Thursday's contest will mark just the fourth home game for Cal State Monterey Bay this year with the Otters owing a 1-2 record in its home pool this season.
• Head coach Carin Crawford has been on the pool deck for each of the four previous meetings.
 
At No. 8 Fresno State (12-7, 3-0 Golden Coast Conference)
• This will be the sixth meeting between these two programs, dating back to the 2018 season, with the Aztecs holding a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series and all games being GCC contests.
• Ahead of its matchup with the Aztecs on Saturday, Fresno State hosts Cal Baptist on Friday, April 1, in a GCC match.
• In matches played in Fresno, the teams have split two games, with the Aztecs taking a 9-7 win on April 19, 2019, but falling 15-10 later that month, on April 28, 2019.
• The teams met twice last season with SDSU taking the first meeting in a 13-12 decision on March 27, but in the championship game of the Golden Coast Conference tournament, the Bulldogs downed San Diego State, 14-10.
• Since 2019, Fresno State has been a top-25 ranked team in all four of its matchups against the Aztecs.

• San Diego State is 9-12 overall, 2-1 in Golden Coast Conference play and No. 19 in the nation at the start of the week.
• Raquel de Pinho leads the team's goalies with 95 saves and 338:38 minutes and has a goals against average of 13.42.
• Zoe Morgan has a 4-2 record and has won her last two decisions. She has a 9.90 GAA in 219:53 and has made 63 saves.
• Laurene Padilla leads the Aztecs offense with 31 goals and is tied for the team lead with 24 assists. 
• Karli Canale is second in goals (30), is tied for the team lead with 24 assists and leads the squad with 26 steals.
• Rose Kanemy tops the team with 80 shots, is third in goals (29) and assists (22) and leads the team in blocks (6).
• Six other San Diego State players have reached double-digit goals (Sydney Hurst – 20, Spencer Samuel – 15, Kendall Houck – 13, Katie Ratcliff – 11, and Lucia Carballo - 10).
• In addition to Padilla, Canale, and Kanemy, who all have over 20 assists, three other Aztecs; Delaney Binette, Lucia Carballo and Spencer Samuel have 14, 14 and 11, respectively.
• Among Golden Coast Conference performers, through the games of March 24, Karli Canale ranks No. 10 in points (42), No. 8 in assists (18) and No. 6 in steals (21) & sprints won (9). Kendall Houck ranks No. 5 in sprints won with 11 and Raquel de Pinho is No. 7 in save percentage (.396), No. 8 in saves (80) and No. 9 in goals against average (14.77).
• In her 24th year leading the San Diego State water polo program, head coach Carin Crawford has amassed 471 career victories.
