SAN DIEGO – Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson has announced the signing of Adryana Quezada, a transfer from Utah State.
Adryana Quezada (Eh-dree-on-uh KAY-zah-duh) is a 5'10" guard/forward who has averaged 14.5 points and 7.4 rebounds across 57 collegiate games. Last year at Utah State she was an All-Mountain West honorable selection after averaging 15.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
"We have seen firsthand the difference Adryana can have on a game," Terry-Hutson said. "She is extremely hard-working and has consistently improved throughout her successful college career. She is a terrific rebounder, especially for her size, and will bring us versatility with her ability to play multiple positions. We also love the competitive toughness and team-first mentality she has."
"I'm very excited to come to SDSU," Quezada explained. "On my visit, I got to see the culture and team they are building here, and I want to be a part of it."
Quezada shot 53.6 percent from the field last year, which was third in the Mountain West. She was also fifth in the conference in scoring (15.2 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (7.9 rpg). She found her groove toward the end of the season when she averaged 20.4 points per game over her final 14 contests.
Quezada scored in double-digits in 15 of her final 16 games and in 19 of her 28 games on the year, including a season-best 30 points at Colorado State (Jan. 19). She also had a team-high nine double-doubles.
Quezada spent her first two seasons at UT-San Antonio where she averaged 13.8 points and 6.9 rebounds across 29 games. Her sophomore season was limited to six games due to injury but was averaging 15.3 points and 10.0 rebounds in that span. As a freshman, she started 16 games while scoring 13.4 points per game. She led the Roadrunners in shooting percentage both years.
She attended Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas where she teamed with current Aztec Mallory Adams for two seasons. As a senior, she averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds while helping her team go 28-9 and 17-1 in league play. She earned All-State, All-Region, and All-District honors three times and scored over 1,000 points in her prep career. She also played for Premier Basketball's "Team Lex," which won the 2017 Adidas National Championship and the 2018 Super 64 National Championship.
Quezada is the third newcomer coming to SDSU next year, joining Marist transfer Sarah Barcello and incoming freshman Jaida Brooks.
