SAN DIEGO – San Diego State senior Bunyawi Thamchaiwat is one of 15 players to earn automatic selection into the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles Championship, the NCAA announced today.

The 64-player singles championship will be conducted May 23-28 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois, following the conclusion of the team championship. Yesterday, the NCAA announced the 64-team bracket for that event, with San Diego State (17-6) opening play against USC (17-11) Friday morning in Malibu, Calif.

Thamchaiwat earned an automatic berth in the event based upon her ITA national ranking. The senior has put together a perfect dual record, going 13-0 in her 18 starts at the number one position this spring. She posted singles victories in San Diego State's wins against Wyoming in the quarterfinals and against UNLV in the finals en route to the team claiming the Mountain West Conference tournament last weekend.

The singles bracket will be released later this month.
