SAN DIEGO - Aztec track and field head coach Shelia Burrell, has announced the signings of three athletes to NLIs. The three athletes are set to compete for San Diego State starting in the 2023-24 school year.
Jordan Leveque, a senior at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California, has signed to attend San Diego State in the fall of 2023.
At 5' 4", Leveque ran the 100m in 12.67 seconds and cleared 13'0" ft in the pole vault. The pole vault mark ranked her 42nd in the nation of all high school athletes in 2022.
Leveque finished sixth in the California State Championship meet finals in 2022 and holds the Buchanan High School record in the pole vault.
Lily Mulligan, a senior at Maria Carrillo High School, in Santa Rosa, California will also be joining the team in 2023-24.
Mulligan brings speed with a 100m PR of 12.64, a PR of 13' 2 1/2" in the pole vault, and a long jump PR of 18' 2". The pole vault mark is a school record, and the long jump mark is the Maria Carrillo HS second-best all-time mark.
During Mulligan's junior year, she won the Redwood Empire Area TF championships with a jump of 13' 2 1/2". This mark set the all-time pole vault record for her league.
Aji Mbye, a senior at Broadfording Christian Academy in Hagerstown, Maryland will sprint on The Mesa starting in 2023-24. Mbye has a stellar high school career to date, going undefeated in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in 2022, while setting the Washington County, Maryland record in both events.
Mbye brings immense speed to the Aztrack after also competing in Senegal where she ran 11.16 seconds in the 100 meters and 23.1 in the 200 meters.
San Diego State opens its 2023 season on Saturday, Dec. 10 with its annual Red-Black All Comers Intrasquad meet at the Aztrack Sports Deck. The Indoor season will begin on Jan. 27 in Seattle, Washington at the UW Invitational.
